My Roaccutane Diary: One Month on Accutane

If you follow me on Instagram, YouTube or Twitter, you probably know that I made the decision to start on Roaccutane last month. Today is the 30th day I have been on it - I have recorded a video explaining how I got on Roaccutane in the first place, how it's going, the side effects I have experienced, and my progress so far.

  1. Thanks for this video! I have acne prone skin and have tried literally everything that a Dr. can prescribe - creams, antibiotics etc. etc. I have asked for Roaccutane but because my acne is moderate rather than severe my Dr. won't prescribe it...I'm 30 maybe I'll grow out of it :)

I'm going to write a super big post detailing everything about what happened to me in the 6 months tomorrow if you fancy any more info from someone who has been on it.

    Good luck!

  3. Thank you for sharing! I am currently on erythromycin which I know won't work and are making me nauseous and giving me terrible nightmares, having been on tetracyclines which made me sick and clydamycin which did nothing. Also tried zineryt, duac, differin, dianette and yasmin pills. Probably others that I can't remember too! I am at the end of my tether, but GPs just seem to brush it off. My acne isnt AWFUL awful, but it's probably the worst its ever been at the moment for the last 10 years... Wondering if my GP will ever refer me to a dermatologist, did you have to really fight for a referral?

    1. I have tried everything you mentioned - and no, I really didn't need to fight. It was just a case of asking - making sure I had tried everything else, and that was it. Good luck! x

  4. I was on this medicine when I was very young (very early teens) and I'm still experiencing the terrible side effects more than 5 years on; I think my bad experience is because I was prescribed it so young, it was a horrible experience but it did clear my bad skin. Although it has now returned :( I think my experience would have been better if I'd been prescribed it later in life, I was just too young to cope with it. I still get skin that dries so bad it cracks and bleeds, and my lips are dry all the time. It's a big regret of mine to go on the medicine, I don't talk about being on it very often because it makes me feel quite upset. I really hope it works for you and wish you luck with it but definitely be sure to keep the side effects in check because years on they are ruining my confidence.
Obviously this isn't to put a downer on it, it really does work, and I think my experience is all down to being young. But it's just to say to be super careful with keeping those side effects in check! Best of luck xxx
